CA. Sidharth Bhatia is a practicing professional with nearly 17 years of diverse experience across Corporate Affairs, Internal Audit, Corporate Finance, Foreign Exchange, International & Corporate Taxation, Legal & Regulatory Compliance. He combines strong multi-disciplinary academic credentials with practical insights to offer well rounded & holistic strategic solutions. Over the years, he has worked with several prominent global corporations across a broad spectrum of industries, including IT/ITES, communication, insurance, environmental innovation, automotive, engineering & construction, infrastructure, logistics, chemicals, manufacturing & services. His professional engagements have encompassed high-level advisory on cross-border structuring, formulation of entry strategies & exit structures, mitigating tax exposures & leveraging tax treaty benefits, litigations & representations before departmental, appellate & regulatory authorities, leading risk-based internal audits & assurance services, implementing robust compliance frameworks especially under various taxation, corporate & foreign exchange laws so as to adhere to the evolving legal landscapes.
Sidharth graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from the University of Delhi in 2004, with a concentration in Mathematics, alongside subsidiary papers in Physics & Chemistry. He was among the college toppers & also served as President of the Mathematics Society. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, having qualified from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in the first attempt. He also holds a post-graduate degree in Commerce, specializing in Finance & Taxation and has successfully completed ICAI’s Post Qualification Course in Information Systems Audit in the first attempt as well in 2009. He did his LL.B from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi & went on to complete his Master of Business Laws in 2017 from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore with top-tier academic performance in his very first sitting.
In 2021, he was invited by WIPO Academy, Switzerland to be part of the pilot session of the Executive Course on Intellectual Property & Exports for sharing his observations, comments & feedback on the course design, where his case study titled, “Impact of FDI, tax structuring on royalties & IP licensing” received the highest exemplary assessment, for its complex problem formulation & in-depth analysis of local legislations. Prior to this, he has enriched his knowledge through specialized courses from the Academy including an advanced program offered jointly with KIPO, KIPA, KAIST (S.Korea).
A university topper, he has also been awarded by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (Government of India), National Service Scheme (NSS), KCCI (Embassy of Republic of Korea), Diocesan Community Centre Library & several other institutes/organizations. He is the recipient of the India Human Rights Protection Award (IIHR). He is multi-lingual with working proficiency in French & basic familiarity with Korean.
He has conducted several training sessions & workshops for the expatriates & employees of multi-national corporations in the areas of CSR, corporate & foreign exchange laws, Indian tax structures, business modeling & legal compliance frameworks, GST implementation. He also engages with various trade associations on the emerging regulatory & policy matters. He regularly attends & participates in several conferences of national & international repute. He is empaneled with Independent Director’s Databank, IICA, Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
