Justice Rinzin Penjor has had a distinguished career in Bhutan’s legal and judicial system. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, followed by his LLB from Delhi University in 1997. He further enhanced his legal expertise with a Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate Law from Dalhousie University, Canada in 2000.
His career in public service began as a Judicial Clerk before advancing to the position of District Court Judge. Justice Penjor played a pivotal role in Bhutan’s transition to democracy, serving as the first Attorney General of Democratic Bhutan from 2008 to 2010. He then ascended to the Supreme Court bench, serving as a Justice from 2010 to 2020. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of Vice President of the Bar Council of Bhutan.
